Why We Keep Puppy for 12 Weeks

Why We Keep Puppy for 12 Weeks

I keep talking about why we keep puppies until they are 12 weeks.

This is important to me because I've experienced puppies who had something happen during this first fear phase that could have been so minor that humans don't see, notice or detect. But yet the pup was terrified of everything and it just escalated, another had submissive urination her whole life if she was startled and a rescue who had such severe separation anxiety? She jumped through windows and eventually that ended her life being hit by a car.

Once you educate yourself on this you can see why as breeders it's so important to protect these puppies and set them up for success.

Here's a great article about it.

Pictured here is a puppy I named diamond out of my very first litter. Her brother is Gemstone's Axl. 🐾❤️

My hopes are more breeders get on board with this. 💓🐾
